Daily UI — Biodiversity Calculator

Image is of four phone screens, each a step a person would take in discovering a biodiversity calculation. First image is home screen which says Biodiversity Calculator: Calculate and record the species richness in your backyard and beyond. The second screen is a form to input the location, sample area, categories of species and # found, and a submit or refresh button. The third and fourth screen are two pages which gives you basic metadata (location, etc.), the resulting data including index of diversity level with a low, medium, or high in the center of a circle and the exact number below — according to one of several biodiversity equations used by scientists. The fourth page contains the species richness which visualizes each type of species and counts the number of species and also includes the population percentage of each of the species submitted.

I could only find one biodiversity calculator online, so I attempted to design one for a wider audience. I focused on the potential for citizen science. Working with Python, SQL, and Tableau in the past helped me figure out what is possible with this calculator based on my rudimentary understanding of one of several biodiversity calculations used by scientists. This is in no means representative of true complexity behind measuring biodiversity.
